About the Artist - Mary Hammond

Mary Hammond is a watercolor artist originally from Charleston, South Carolina. As a military spouse she has been afforded the opportunity to travel across the United States. Her watercolor and gouache artwork derives from her interpretations of the coastal life while living near Charleston and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Destin, Florida, and Olympia, Washington.  Mary is a member of the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art in Augusta, Georgia, where she had the privilege of studying watercolors under artists Thomas Needham and Layla Streett. She is a stay at home mother raising her three wonderful boys where she finds peace and joy in drawing and painting her surroundings. Mary decided to pursue a career as a full-time artist after gaining support in 2017 where she and her husband started Live Life On Canvas. Mary continues to push herself learning new techniques and styles with the intent to perfect her style as an artist.
